The guys are amazing! They’ve changed six engines for us, coming out to our site and completing roughly one engine per day. They’ve been incredibly quick, professional, and the quality of their work has been excellent. We had one vehicle that had been sitting in a garage for a year and a half. Every time we chased for an update, we were told they were struggling to source parts. Then we found Daniel and Jon. They came out and managed to get the vehicle sorted in just one day, despite it being missing a lot of parts. To be honest, I was a bit worried when the vehicle first arrived on recovery with the engine sitting on the back and all the bolts and bits literally in a cup! 😂 But Daniel and Jon somehow managed to get everything sorted without any issues. What does a reconditioned engine cost?
A reconditioned van engine from us costs between £1,800 and £2,000 plus VAT on an exchange basis, depending on the engine. The smaller 1.5 and 1.6 litre units (DV5, R9M) start at £1,800 +VAT; the 2.0, 2.2 and 2.3 litre units (DW10, DW12, EcoBlue, M9T, IVECO F1A) start at £2,000 +VAT. Recovery with fitting is £3,200–£3,300 +VAT all-in. Supply and fit is quoted per vehicle because labour varies with the van.
What is the difference between reconditioned and remanufactured?
A reconditioned engine is stripped, inspected and rebuilt with new wearing parts, with components reused only where they still measure inside original tolerance. A remanufactured engine is rebuilt to a published factory standard with defined parts replaced every time, regardless of measured wear. What we supply is reconditioned to OE specification: every unit is stripped to bare block, the crankshaft is reground and magna-fluxed, the block is honed to OE bore, the cylinder head is skimmed and pressure tested, and all bearings, rings, pumps, seals and gaskets are new. Pistons are measured and replaced where they fall outside tolerance.
Where do I find my engine code?
Your engine code is stamped on the block, usually on a machined pad near the gearbox mating face, and it also appears on the V5C logbook in section D.2. If you can't find it, send us your registration number on WhatsApp and we will identify the exact unit for you. This matters: single-turbo and bi-turbo, and front- and rear-wheel-drive variants, are different engines that do not interchange.
How long does an engine replacement take?
Supply-only orders are normally dispatched within two to three working days once the engine code is confirmed, on a pallet to mainland UK. Fitting in our workshop is typically a two- to three-day job depending on the van. Recovery jobs start with collection, usually within 24 hours inside our 60-mile radius.
