What this website collects
This website does not store your enquiry. The quote form on this site does not send anything to a server of ours — it assembles the details you type into a WhatsApp message which opens in your own WhatsApp app, and you choose whether to send it. Until you press send in WhatsApp, the information stays on your device.
We do use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. These set cookies and process technical data such as your approximate location (derived from IP address), device and browser type, the pages you viewed and how you arrived. Analytics loads only after you interact with the page or the browser is idle.
What we collect when you contact us
- Your name and the phone number or email address you contact us from
- Your vehicle registration, engine code, VIN and mileage
- Your address or postcode, where delivery, fitting or recovery is involved
- The content of your messages to us, including WhatsApp messages and photographs you send
- Payment and invoicing details, where you place an order
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To answer your enquiry and quote for work — lawful basis: steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract.
- To supply, deliver, fit or recover, and to invoice — lawful basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To administer warranty claims — lawful basis: performance of our contract, and our legitimate interest in defending claims.
- To keep accounting and tax records — lawful basis: compliance with a legal obligation.
- To understand and improve how this website performs — lawful basis: your consent, given through the cookie controls in your browser or on this site.
Who we share it with
We share only what is necessary, with: our couriers and pallet networks (delivery address and contact number); recovery operators, where we are collecting your vehicle; our accountants and payment providers; and Google, as described above, for website analytics. We do not sell your data and we do not share it for third-party marketing.
WhatsApp is operated by Meta. If you contact us on WhatsApp, Meta processes that conversation under its own terms — we have no control over that, and you should read Meta's privacy policy if it concerns you. You are always welcome to phone or email instead.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become orders are kept for up to 12 months. Order, invoice and warranty records are kept for 6 years after the end of the relevant financial year, as required for tax purposes and to service warranty claims. Analytics data is retained for the period set in our Google Analytics property, after which Google deletes it automatically.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased where we no longer need it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email info@refurbished-engine.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
Cookies set by this site are used for analytics and advertising measurement through Google Tag Manager. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them. No cookies are required for the quote form to function.

We update this notice when our practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
